2.5 months / Photo shoot with Uncle Brandon

We spent Memorial Day weekend in Austin, and Matisse's Uncle Brandon took some great photos of her during the trip.

Pavlik harness

 Matisse's hip joints were loose when she was born since she was breech (developmental hip dysplasia).  Her joints tightened up a lot in the 2 weeks after she was born, but during a follow-up ultrasound at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital yesterday her right hip joint was still a bit loose.  So the orthopedic specialist decided to have her wear a harness for a couple of months - this will keep the ball of her femur in the joint so that she hopefully won't have any problems with this when she gets older (95% of kids don't need any further intervention other than wearing the harness).  She can still kick her legs and move around - she just looks like a butterflied chicken.

2 months old & first Mother's Day

Yesterday we went out to brunch for our first Mother's Day.  At her 2 month pediatrician check up today Matisse was 10 lb 14 oz (50th percentile) and 23 in long (75th percentile) - so she has gained over 3 lb and grown over 3 in since she was born!  She is smiling and cooing a lot, and she already has pretty good head control.
