Pavlik harness
Matisse's hip joints were loose when she was born since she was breech (
developmental hip dysplasia). Her joints tightened up a lot in the 2 weeks after she was born, but during a follow-up ultrasound at
Scottish Rite Children's Hospital yesterday her right hip joint was still a bit loose. So the orthopedic specialist decided to have her wear a harness for a couple of months - this will keep the ball of her femur in the joint so that she hopefully won't have any problems with this when she gets older (95% of kids don't need any further intervention other than wearing the harness). She can still kick her legs and move around - she just looks like a butterflied chicken.
